Social media fuels a thriving, yet potentially misinformed world of creator-generated Vaseline ‘hacks’. These viral uses of petroleum jelly may be inventive or ingenious, but they’re not always safe.

We didn’t ignore it, we came with a response: Vaseline Verified.
A breakthrough idea that transformed anecdotal trends into scientifically validated truths.

For the first time, real Unilever R&D scientists tested viral hacks in the lab, to verify or debunk them.

When a hack actually worked, the Verified status was given directly to the hack creator, rewarding their ingenuity with the Vaseline Verified badge and exclusive commerce opportunities and coveted trophies.

"Vaseline Verified" became the ultimate sign of hack endorsement, encouraging others to get involved uncovering new uses for the 155 year old bathroom cupboard staple.

This game changing approach transcended conventional brand work by leaning into what was already out there and directly engaging the original creators.

Our unexpected intervention put the Vaseline voice firmly at the centre of this world of hacks, making the Verified status something that armed this thriving community with the right information and validation.

My role was an essential and integral driving force for the entire campaign. Alongside my partner, we came up with the idea of ‘Vaseline Verified’, shaping the entire creative direction, crafting and pushing for progress all the way up to the submission deadline (and beyond).

This campaign has become one of Unilever’s most celebrated, scooping many prestigious international awards, rankings and has led directly to Ogilvy, Singapore being named agency of the year at many award shows and Vaseline being named brand of the year.
